Day Eighteen

Stewart got up early (6:30AM) to drop the truck off at the Ford dealer up the road to get the brakes serviced. This is the last part of the work that couldn't be completed by the dealer in Steinbach (did not have the necessary parts and we didn't want to hang around Steinbach for a second day).

Headed out to the zoo. Saw lots of animals. Spent the day in the sunshine. A few parts of the zoo were closed due to flooding (no lions or bears). The park itself spans one bank of the river and an island. Most of the animal areas are quite large. The highlights were the hippo and giraffe area (very new), the rainforest area with gorillas, and the conservatory.

Tons of little kids in strollers and one couple with a camera in a stroller. I think when we saw it in use, she was taking a picture of a flea on a cassowary. This after taking pictures of the rare nesting zebra finch.

Stewart picked up the truck -- brakes are mountain ready. Girls finished up the day with a swim in the hotel pool (which has a two story slide).
