Day Sixteen
We left our hotel in Brooks by 7:45 to drive back to Dinosaur Provincial Park as we had a tour arranged for 9:15 am. We checked the weather carefully and though it was to rain in Calgary and Edmonton again, the forcast for the area was good with max precipitation of 1mm. That we could handle, so off to the desert of the badlands. We had a great tour, unfortunately the usual hike goes into closed off parts of the park but since all the rain those paths would be too slick so we had the alternate tour. The hike was about 2 hours in length, by the end we had a good understanding on why the park is full of a great assortment of dinosaur fossils.
After lunch we went to the cotton wood trail along the Red Deer River and did yet another Geocache. As Stewart was trying to get to the final postion in the bush, (I think that we look a little too hard) he says "I found it!, wait it looks more like an animal, oh it is furry, and breathing." Brenna found the cache at this point just off a little trail about 6 feet away. We picked up a travel bug, Little Elvis, who would like to make it to Memphis, and a Geocoin that wants to travel to the States. We also dropped off Tom's travel bug and hope that it will make it to Hawaii before Tom and Ruth's trip in August. The wind and clouds were rolling around to the west of us, but we did not get a drop of rain. The temperature dropped and we had a pleasant early dinner. After dinner we went another trail inside the public loop that allows you to get off the trail and into the hills. What a landscape -- something out of Star Wars almost. We did another Geocache, Headless Hadrosaur. This was a bit of a challenge and Margot finally found it as she was the one to jump down into the pit. We were not the only one who found it today, as there was a group with 9 kids who had been there earlier that day!
The park ranger came by to warn us that the dam up river had overflowed due to all the rain near Calgary and in the mountains, so that there was a possibility that the campsite might get flooded as early as 3AM. Same guy that had warned us about the tornados and hail the day before.
Got to bed by 9.00 -- very early for our standards lately!

Great shots - what an amazing landscape! Brenna must have been in her element there. Really enjoying the descriptions and the photos. Could you handle any more rain??!
